New LG TV Sets Speed Record

At the Consumer Electronics Show this week in Las Vegas, LG will introduce what it says is the "world's first" 480Hz LCD TV panel. The high-speed refresh rate means better image performance and reduced blur.
Based on LG's Trumotion technology, the panel utilizes a backlight strobe to minimize motion blur and transform the company's standard 240Hz rate to an effective 480Hz rate. In addition to the refresh benchmark, the panel also boasts a 4ms picture response time.
According to LG execs, TVs based on the Trumotion 480Hz LCD panel will hit the market in the second half of 2009.
